PDX Pretzel Throw Down #3: Grüner

I checked out the pretzel at Grüner per facebook pretzel hound research insiders aka Facebook friends. Grüner serves Alpine cuisine so I was intrigued. I also had LA Blogger Chocomeat and Pastry Lion Brooke with me for back up. We ordered the pretzel ($2) separately since we were there for happy hour and not dinner. The roll was served with butter. The pretzel itself was deemed more than acceptable having a pleasant chewy, dense texture and no bitter crust. The major disappointments were that the pretzel was cold and uhm, butter and not mustard?

This is pretzel #3 of the PDX Pretzel Throw Down. More to come next week.

A pretzel without mustard is like a day without beer: sure, you can do it, but it's nowhere near as enjoyable.
