PDX Pretzel Throw Down: Deschutes Brewery

I do not want to end my Throw Down this soon into the game, but Deschutes's Brewery Pretzel has got to be one of the best I have ever had in my 30 years living la vida banana wonder. The Pretzel ($7 non happy hour, $4 happy hour) is served with a ramekin of baked white cheddar cheese dipping sauce and a ring of Black Butte Porter stone ground mustard.

The Pretzel: Invokes glorious carbohydrate-happy sensors with thick, doughy insides. Good amount of electrolyte balancing salt flecks to keep you coming back for more without sending you out the door with high blood pressure. Crust is not bitter, and the entire pretzel is baked consistently. Good for sharing, if you are generous.

The Dip: Gleak inducing baked cheddar cheese and mustard fondue. It's warm, tangy, creamy and textural.

I'll keep trying pretzels in PDX, but I will keep eating this pretzel when I can. If anyone has any pretzel tips, I would love to hear them!

This pretzel + dip combo looks phenomenal! It'll be tough to find one that beats this.

Hmmm, interesting presentation with the melted cheese in the grainy mustard. It looks really good!
