Muffin Porn Alert!: Just Baked, Downtown Los Angeles

Man I love these guys.
I have some sick and twisted obsession with almond poppy seed muffins and they actually made almond poppy seed lemon muffins just for me. Come on, who does that? They also have the most amazing, albeit perhaps not the healthiest, raisin bran muffins with cream cheese centers and respectable sugar free (made with splenda) blueberry muffins. The chocolate chip muffin tastes like cake, but that's why you're eating a muffin anyway. They have a chocolate banana muffin and banana nut muffin as well but I stay away from the banana flavored things in life. The coffee is quite fancy: Rwanda / Organic type brews with even a carafe of soy milk alongside the obligatory half and half and nonfat milk.

And the sandwiches? Made with fresh sourdough bread on-site and stuffed with high quality fillings. I get the avocado veggie which has a generous schmear of avocado spread (basically mashed avocados), all the veggie fixings your heart desires and grey poupon. The thing weighs close to a L-B.

Cupcakes are made daily (usually red velvet and carrot). The red velvet cake is ultra bright red (not to be confused with reject-from-the-science-lab bright) with a fairly sweet cream cheese frosting. I have yet to try the carrot cake, but sometime soon, my friends.

I do have one gripe. My colleague ordered the lox bagel and the cream cheese was spread on like butter and I don't mean that in a cool "buttah" way. I mean that as in scraped on, low LDL cholesterol 4-life kind of way . It was just weird. The fellow making it needs to be taken to a Jewish deli for some on the job training STAT. Besides that, hurray for this new bakery in downtown LA and I hope they make it!

Mmm that raisin bran muffin with cream cheese looks awesome. They should do a carrot version with that! Which would be a carrot cake cupcake. :)

Yes a carrot or even pumpkin (tis the season!) would be scrumptious. I will pass this along to the bakery next week.
